During a typical initial visit, Meredith will consult with you in detail about your main complaint and health history.  It is important to fill out your health history intake form prior to your first appointment so that the time spent on diagnosis and treatment is optimized.  She will feel your pulse at both wrists and ask to see your tongue.  Both of these methods provide her with additional information about your internal health.  She encourages patients to bring blood work, diagnostic imaging, and a medication list so that your treatment plan is easily integrated into the recommendations given to you by other medical professionals. Please expect to be at your first visit for approximately one hour.

 

Since every individual is so unique, a custom treatment plan is designed for each specific patient . During a treatment she may use acupuncture alone, or incorporate electrical stimulation, cupping, moxibustion, or soft tissue therapy. She may also recommend a prescription of herbal medicines in conjunction with your treatments performed in person. The number of treatments that cause a shift may also vary from person to person depending on the severity of  the problem. We encourage patients to see acupuncture and integrative medicine as a wellness service and consider making it a part of their routine even after they  achieve relief. 

 

Before your visit: 

• Dress in loose clothing so the acupuncturist can access below the elbows and knees

• Try to eat adequate meals before your appointment 

• Please arrive to your appointment on time

• We ask that you notify us of any need to reschedule as soon as possible
